As nature itself shrouds itself in death, with darker evenings, colder nights and bare branches, we are invited to remember our loved ones who have died. Many in our school community carry the memories of a family member, friend or neighbour who have passed beyond the cares of this life. Staff members remember colleagues who served in St Pats and former students taken from life too quickly.
Every year group and class came to the Oratory to remember and pray for their loved ones. Students reflected on the Word of God, offered up prayer and reflection and in a simple gesture remembered their loved one(s) by writing a name to be placed on the Remberance Tree. A candle was lit reminding us of that light of faith that scatters the darkness of grief and into our Perpetual List those names were again inscribed.
Next Tuesday, 28th November at lunchtime, Mass will be offered for all our list praying that in the light of heaven, they may rest forever.
Eternal rest grant on to them O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.
