Positive Mental Health Week

Positive Mental Health Week

Positive Mental Health Week literally got off to a flying start on Tuesday April 25th when there was a ceremonial releasing of balloons by the assembled school population from the school’s astro-turf pitch.  Each class had been asked to write a negative thought on a balloon which would then be released.  Tuesday marked the beginning of a week long focus on many aspects of promoting positive mental health for students and adults alike.

There were meditation exercises and talks about nutrition as well as a talk for staff and later parents about dealing with teenagers.

This is the time-table for the many different events that are taking place as part of “Positive Mental Health Week 2017”

·         Launch of Positive Mental Health Week 2017.

Students from PMHW Committee to deliver 1 Balloon to each classroom at 10:05am.

Teachers to choose 1 negative word and write this word using white board marker on balloon.

Students will be called out of class (10:25am approx) and teachers are asked to bring them to the Astro pitch and line them up opposite room number that is labelled on Astro as per Fire Drill procedure. Teacher carries balloon with them (Not a Student)

Once out on pitch teacher picks one student from class to bring balloon to centre of pitch along with students from other classes. ‘Negative Balloons’ will be released to launch Positive Mental Health Week 2017 in St. Pat’s.

Students will go to break directly from this.
