St. Pat’s got an enjoyable warm-up in for the Meath Track & Field Championship when they took part in the Annual 3k Muck Run at the Furry Glen in the Phoenix Park. Organised and hosted by Mount Sackville to mark the end of their Healthy Living week it was the first time that St. Pat’s entered teams for it. Set over 3k of challenging hill, brooks and obstacles the race involved runners forming into teams of four that had to cross the line together in order to finish. In the Junior category Marcus Clarke, fresh from his All-Ireland Cross-Country heroics gave plenty of encouragement to fellow team-mates Matthew Corkery and Adam Boylan. Along with Adam Canning who was wearing fancy dress as part of the relaxed atmosphere they came in 2nd overall, with the the other Junior Team of Adam Boylan, Brendan Watters and brothers Thomas and Michael Barrett finishing a further three places back. In the Senior race a dream team of sorts of Nathan Seary, Aaron Grimes, David Hawes and Conor Lenihan (pictured) negotiated the course in the quickest time of the day to come home first with the other dream team of Fuad Adio, Oliver Canning, Alan Carey and Fergus Crilly-McEntee coming home in 3rd. The team now moves on to more serious matters with the Meath Track & Field Championship in Navan this Friday where they hope to try and retake the overall team competition, which they lost last year having held onto it for three of the previous four years.
