For the past six years Ms Nolan has brought second years to Italy for several nights to take in all things ‘Renaissance and Italian’. In 2014/15, I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Italian trip.
It was amazing. The places we went to were Florence and Sorrento. We took day trips to; Old Rome to the Colosseum; Pompeii to learn about learn about the Vesuvius disaster; and finally to the Vatican City to go to Saint Peter’s Basilica to look at the Renaissance artworks done by Michelangelo.
Whilst in Florence we went to the Cathedral di Santa Maria Del Fiore with Filippo Brunelleschi’s Dome on top of it. The teachers that went along with Ms Nolan was Mr Bellew, Mr Maloney and Mr Murphy.
There were about 25-30 students that came along and it is hoped that this year’s trip will be no different.
